Meet my Snowman!

Blank_Wooden_Snowman.JPG  Painted_Snowman_Blog.JPG

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are all having a fab day, what amazing weather!!! I am relaxing at the computer while I listen to the Mamma Mia soundtrack and updating my blog, all of which I am enjoying.  Poppy is also peaceful and relaxed so all is good.

I ventured into the Craft Room this week and instead of doing the work I should have been doing, this project kind of distracted me a little.

I had been inspired by some ideas I had seen on pinterest and decided I had to have a go!

The first picture shows what I started with, he is mdf/wood and is about 150cm tall.  I painted the back and the sides of the Snowman and the scarf with the Latte Acrylic paint - a little softer in colour than cream.  I didn't paint the front of the Snowman or the back of the scarf. I coloured the front of the hat with a Memento black marker but I will have to use Black Acrylic paint the next time as it turned a little pink when I added the modge podge - Ooops!

I then used Book Binding glue to glue the music paper to the front, I spent quite a while smoothing the front to make sure it had no bubbles.  I think the reason for this was that my book binding glue had been sitting for a little while and was a little thick.

I actually left it overnight although you do not have to do this, you just need to wait for about half and hour or possibly less until it is dry.  I then filed around the edges with a large emery board.  I had to fix up some little bits of wood with paint when I was finished but thankfully not too many.

I wasn't originally going to use Glitter Modge Podge but decided as it would be for Christmas, I would just have to add a bit of sparkle! I have used Glitter Modge Podge on the Snowman, the scarf and the hat.  I used the modge podge to glue it all together instead of tacky glue.  I always worry tacky glue will not hold it although it probably would.

The carrot nose is a Dress It Up button, unfortunately there are all different sizes in the packet but hopefully I will be able to use them all.  To finish him off I added glitter holly and a berry to the hat and a glitter snowflake to the scarf.  I do love Snowflakes!

I also love googly eyes and really love these ones with the eyelashes, unfortunately when it was finished I noticed one of the black pieces in one of the eyes is stuck so Mr Snowman looks a little drunk, lol.

However I am happy with my completed project and am going to order some more as I have a blue music paper in my craft stash.

I hope you all have an absolutely fantastic evening.  I am going to send some emails, update Facebook and Twitter (which I still can't fathom) and list a few bits and pieces on eBay.

As always please don't be afraid to get in contact if you have any queries.

I will be back soon.

Bye for now.

Take care,  Heather
