Christmas Cards - September 2019
Good evening everyone, it's Wednesday again ... where do the days go!! This week has been quite emotional but a week I will not forget for a while. Thank you to each and every one of you who attended my classes this week and over the past 5 years ... I cannot believe it has been 5 years since I started teaching classes at Mum's. We have had many chats and many laughs, thank you all so much for your friendship, kindness and support, it always means a lot to me.
The next few months are busy with various crafting events and preparation for them, eBay will also be keeping me busy but I hope to and plan to be crafting for Christmas and so will add all my creations here and on facebook. I am attempting to use Twitter but haven't yet figured it out. Please do not be afraid to contact me if you have any queries as I am always happy to help when I can. I use quite a mixed array of craft brands and I don't always write it in the blog post so please feel free to ask for details.
This week's cards were of course Christmas Cards, I love all the Christmas crafting products especially snowmen and poinsettias although last year penguins and polar bears were a close second ... and then of course there are robins. My Granny adored robins and every year I try to make at least one card with a robin on it as it reminds me of her. She was a wonderful person who I sincerely miss every single day of my life.
The first card above is made with blue bazzill cardstock and navy pearlescent card which I used as I didn't have navy bazzill, I actually think the pearlescent card ended up being a lot nicer and gave the card a little bit of a shimmer. Who doesn't like a little shimmer or sparkle at Christmas !!! or in fact any time. I of course had to use the Softly Falling embossing folder, and the tree and deer is Ultimate Crafts - a tiny little set of dies but so easy to cut. There was also a smaller deer in the set which I didn't include. The scallop circle is cut with the Cricut machine Elegant Edges cartridge and the curvy white piece is part of a circle cut with a stitched scalloped border die (unbranded).
At the end of last year we used an unbranded globe die, I reused this taking out the centre and creating my own. The paper is Echo Park, a new purchase and I love it ... I will be buying more. The snowman is from a Recollections stamp and die set, coloured with a promarkers and glittered with stardust stickles. The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I had wanted to add a glittered wooden laser cut snowflake to this card instead of a glitter card one but I did not have enough for everyone.
As you may have seen on facebook I tidied up my wooden stamps during August, this is one of the stamps I found while tidying, it is a Penny Black brush stamp which is now retired. I always loved it and would have used Marvy Brush Markers in earlier days. I have now started to use Memento Markers which are a fantastic alternative. The embossing folder was from a magazine last year, it is Crafters Companion and it is one I think I will be using again ... it is so elegant! I finished it off with an Apple Blossom holly branch and die cut poinsettias. Thanks to my amazing Mum who cut out over 50 of these on her Cuttlebug. In a moment of madness I decided each card needed 3 ... I will not do that again!
That is it for now. I am going to sign off, wash my dishes and chill out for the rest of the evening, I have a busy day tomorrow.
Thanks again to everyone ... I will be back soon.
Take care, Heather x
